Dominique Rodríguez, Assistant Professor of Spanish, is the recipient of the 2025-2026 Teaching Excellence Award for Cultivating Community. The award is presented by the Faculty Senate Enhancement Committee and the 乱伦大神 Center for Teaching and Learning.
The selection committee recognized Rodríguez for her valuable contributions as a classroom instructor and leader at the University of New Mexico. Reviewers were especially impressed by the care and intentionality reflected in her application, as well as the strong connection between her teaching philosophy, course design, and community-engaged practices.
The committee highlighted how her teaching fosters connection, collaboration, and shared inquiry. Reviewers were particularly struck by the meaningful opportunities she creates for students to learn alongside community members through authentic partnerships. Her submission demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering belonging, cultural connections, and shared responsibility in ways that enrich student learning and strengthen community.
